At MoneyGram (“we,” “us” and “our” will refer to the specific company to which you apply for a job, and “MoneyGram” will refer to the MoneyGram group of companies), we respect your privacy and are committed to handling, your personal data responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws. At MoneyGram (“we,” “us” and “our” will refer to the specific company to which you apply for a job, and “MoneyGram” will refer to the MoneyGram group of companies), we respect your privacy and are committed to handling, your personal data responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws. 

This Notice applies to “you” regardless of the type of contract you apply for, that is, to become our employee, trainee, temporary worker, contractor who provide services to us, and any other staff member.
This Notice explains how we use your personal data, what data we collect about you, why we collect it, what we do with it, and what your rights are related to the use of your data.

MoneyGram’s processing of personal data is, in all cases, subject to the requirements of applicable local laws, and to the extent this Notice conflicts with local law in your country, local law prevails. We may include local supplements in this Notice that cover specific local issues.

We also may provide you with additional information when we collect personal data, where we feel it would be helpful to provide relevant and timely information. 

1. Who is the data controller? 

The data controller is the MoneyGram company to which you submitted your application. To check its details, please refer to the following list.

Joint controllers

We and MoneyGram Payment Systems Inc. (a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business at 1550 Utica Ave S, Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55416) ("MPSI”) are joint controllers of your data that pertain to and are used for the purpose of recruitment for key roles reporting within the corporate structure to MPSI. 

We and MoneyGram Poland sp. z.o.o. (a Polish company with its registered office at ul. Konstruktorska 13, 02-673 Warsaw, Poland) (“MPS Poland”) are joint controllers of your data that pertain to your recruitment and are used for purpose of recruitment. 

To exercise your rights with regard to processing your data that is jointly controlled by us and MPSI or MPS Poland, or to obtain details of the arrangements between us and MPSI or MPS Poland, use the contact details in the section “How to contact us”. 

2. Who is the data protection officer?

Some MoneyGram companies have appointed a data protection officer or equivalent (“DPO”) to oversee the processing of personal data. Click here to check which company has appointed a DPO, and if so, how to contact the DPO.

3. What categories of your personal data we process 

If allowed in your jurisdiction and necessary, we will process the following categories of your personal data:

• Personal identification information: first name, last name, home address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, image, your ID, visa and passport documents as well as those of your spouse if legally required,

Application-related information: employment history, education, professional qualifications and certifications, professional achievements, professional and soft skills, language skills, registration and membership in professional bodies and other information which you shared with us in your application and during the recruitment, work and residence permit status, your nationality / citizenship and / or country of birth, 

• Communication information: communication with you and interview notes including information on selection, assessment and your tests results, if applicable,

• Background checks: results of pre-hire screening checks to the extent required for our hiring decision and with regard to the specific position you applied for (e.g., credit and criminal record checks only if permitted under local laws),

• Monitoring information: footage from the closed-circuit television ("CCTV”) systems, if you visit our premises for an interview. 

We collect most of your personal data directly from you, for example through your application, from correspondence with you, through interviews, or other assessments. 

In some situations, we also collect your personal data from other people or organizations such as:

• your previous employers, 

• recruitment agencies,

• professional social media portals,

• individuals recommending your application.

4. Why we collect, use, and store your personal data

We must have a lawful basis for processing your data. We explain this in the table below. We also explain the purposes for which we use your data.

Contractual performance - to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract with you and to conclude a contract with you. To fulfil these tasks, we have to use your data.  


  • to take steps before entering into an employment or other contract with you, in particular to assess your suitability to given role, compare it with other candidates and decide whether to offer you a contract with us,
  • to carry out pre-hire screenings, fit and proper tests, but only to the extent required for our hiring decision regarding the specific position you have applied for (e.g., references, credit checks, criminal record checks, if permitted under local laws), and
  • make a job offer to you.



Compliance with a legal obligation - as an organization, we have obligations to comply with legal, regulatory and other requirements under applicable laws. In certain cases, we will have to use your data to meet these obligations.


  • to comply with our legal obligations arising from, inter alia, labor, social security, social protection laws, data protection and anti-discrimination laws, as well as financial services regulations,
  • to carry out fit and proper tests under financial services regulations for candidates for senior management positions and to provide personal data to our regulatory bodies.


Legitimate business purposes (so called legitimate interest) - we can process your data when this is necessary for us to achieve a business purpose, or where this is needed for someone else to achieve their purpose. We explain in the right-hand column what interests we, or others, are trying to achieve when we process your data. Where we process personal data on the basis of legitimate interest, then – as required by data protection law – we have carried out a balancing test to document our interests, to consider what impact the processing will have on individuals and to determine whether individuals’ interests outweigh our interests in the processing taking place.


  • to be able to proactively source potential candidates including searching and contacting them on dedicated professional social media platforms,
  • to process personal data for internal administration purposes, to centralize and manage the administration of the recruitment process, to manage applications more efficiently for yours and our benefit,
  • to provide feedback to candidates and defend any query, challenge or claim made in connection with our recruitment decisions which will help MoneyGram avoid or reduce legal, financial and reputational risk,
  • to ensure that candidates do not pose an unacceptable risk to the business or its customers, that the business is protected from crime and other unlawful acts and that the business, and its customers are protected from fraud, dishonesty or incompetence, and
  • to contact a candidate whose application has not been successful should another potentially suitable vacancy arise during a maximum period of one year following completion of the original recruitment process.

 We have an interest in human resource   planning, to meet our business strategies,   to search for potential candidates, to   manage and improve the recruitment   process.

  • When you are captured by the CCTV systems, to control the access to our premises and protected areas, to ensure the safety of individuals entering and being present at MoneyGram premises (including employees, clients and visitors), to ensure the safety of our premises, property and information, and prevent, detect and investigate theft and property damages or threats to the safety of the individuals present on the premises and, if necessary, investigate unauthorized access.

 We have an interest in protecting our   business interests and legal rights.



Failure to provide your personal data when requested for contract performance, business purposes or compliance with legal obligations may prevent us from being able to carry out the recruitment process and conclude a contract with you.

5. How we share your personal data

We share your personal data with:

• Other companies in MoneyGram, in particular: MoneyGram International, Inc. (Texas, USA), MPSI, MPS Poland for the purpose of centralizing and managing the administration of the recruitment process, running and managing the recruitment process and for recruitment for key roles reporting within the corporate structure to MPSI,

• Our third party providers the majority of whom process personal data on our behalf and in line with our instructions. These include IT service providers, providers of auditing and control services, legal services, recovery, printing, disposal of documents, postal and courier services, recruitment agencies and background checks vendors,

• Law enforcement bodies, courts and court enforcement authorities, regulators and authorities, such as local data protection authorities, as well as government institutions if applicable under local laws.

6. How we transfer personal data to third countries

MoneyGram operates globally and, therefore, personal data may need to be transferred to countries outside of where it was originally collected.

MoneyGram’s global headquarters is based in the United States and several material functions and systems are operated from the US, which means that certain personal data must be transferred to the US. MoneyGram has concluded an Intragroup Data Sharing and Processing Agreement to regulate intracompany data flows and data transfer clauses within data processing or data sharing agreements with third party vendors.

All our personal data transfers are compliant with applicable data protection laws. The agreements we have in place within MoneyGram and with our third-party vendors include appropriate safeguards to ensure that the data flows are safe and that individuals can exercise their data protection rights. These include standard contractual clauses or other arrangements, as applicable in specific countries, and other safeguards, as may be appropriate. We may also transfer data to countries with an adequate level of personal data protection based on the decisions adopted by competent authorities such as the adequacy decisions adopted by the European Commission or the United Kingdom.

7. How long we retain your personal data

We will store your personal data for the period of the recruitment process, or as required under applicable laws, and, where permitted, as long as it serves our business purposes. 

If your application is successful, we will keep the data in line with our employment privacy notice.If your application is unsuccessful, we will erase your personal data unless its retention is required to pursue our business purposes. We may retain personal data longer due to litigation needs or other extraordinary situations.


8. What are your choices and rights 

Depending on and subject to applicable laws, you have certain rights regarding the personal data that we hold about you. These rights may include the following:

• access to and obtaining a copy of your personal data,

• rectification of your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete,

• restriction of the processing or erasure of your personal data (the right to be forgotten), 

• data portability if the processing, done using automated means, is based on your consent or is necessary to perform a contract,

• objection to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests,

• withdrawal of your consent at any time; such withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing of your personal data which was carried out prior to withdrawal.

If the applicable law in your country offers different data protection rights, you are entitled to exercise such rights in line with those laws.

9. How you can submit a complaint to a supervisory authority 

Data protection laws vary across the jurisdictions. In most countries you are entitled to lodge a complaint with a relevant authority in your country (where you live, work or where the suspected privacy issue occurred), if you are concerned about the processing of your personal data or if your rights have not been complied with.

However, we encourage you to reach out to or internal Privacy Team first to share your questions and concerns or to exercise your rights. To do that, you may use the contact details available in the Section “How to contact us”.

10. Do we make automated decisions 

We do not make any decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produce legal or similar effect concerning you.

11. How we notify you about changes to this Notice

We reserve the right to update this Notice at any time. The update will be available on our website. We may notify you of substantial updates that affect you.
